When you use the command-line file transfer protocol (FTP) client in Windows 98, when you attempt to download a file from the server, the process takes a long time.
This issue can occur if the Hash
option is turned on.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
To switch the FTP Hash
command on and off, type hash
at an FTP prompt, and then press ENTER.
For more information on the command-line FTP client for Windows 98, please see page 948 in the Microsoft Windows 98 Resource Kit.
