SUMMARY

This article describes the Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 issues that are fixed in the hotfix package that is dated April 26, 2011.

INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • A deadlock occurs in the configuration database in Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 when Forefront Security for SharePoint runs a maintenance job.
  • Assume you export a site collection that contains a list in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. Then, you import the site collection. In this situation, the LastItemModifiedDate property on the list is not retained. Instead, the LastItemModifiedDate property is set to the import time.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You add a security group to an existing Office SharePoint Server 2007 site. The security group is created in Active Directory Domain Services (ADDS).
    • You export the SharePoint site.
    • You change the name of the security group in ADDS.
    • You import the SharePoint site to a new SharePoint site.

In this scenario, the imported security group is changed to a user. Additionally, the stsadm –o migrategroup command does not work.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You migrate a site collection that has a document library from Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 to Office SharePoint Server 2007.
    • You export the site collection.
    • You import the site collection into Office SharePoint Server 2007.
    • You review the version history of a document in the site collection.

In this scenario, the last modified date and time in the version history is not retained. Instead, it shows the date and time when the site collection was imported.
  • Assume that you move some Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 site collections from one content database to another content database. If an unexpected error occurs, some site collections may not be mapped correctly in the configuration database. However, there is no command to fix the mapping of the configuration database to the site collections. Now, the hotfix adds a new stsadm -o refreshsitemap command to support that.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You create a site column in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0.
    • You add the site column to a new site content type, and then you enable the Hidden option.
    • You add the site content type to an existing document library, and then you save the document library as a template.
    • You create a new document library by using the template.

In this scenario, the hidden column in the new document library resets to optional.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You have an existing site collection in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0.
    • You create a custom list in the site collection, and then you enable versioning control.
    • You create an item with non-empty metadata in the custom list.
    • You edit the item, and then save the item. This behavior creates a new version of the item.
    • You query the value of the DiskUsed column that corresponds to the site collection in the Sites table in a SQL server.

In this scenario, the value of the DiskUsed column is not updated correctly.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You create a Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 web application.
    • You configure the web application to use a root wildcard inclusion.
    • You create several site collections by using the root wildcard inclusion.
    • You detach a content database that includes the web application.
    • You reattach the content database.

In this scenario, each site collection in the root has its own explicit inclusion. However, the users expect that only the root wildcard inclusion to remain.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You have a Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 site that is located on a Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 content database.
    • You move the site to another Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 content database. Therefore, the sitemap table maps the site to the new content database.
    • You run the stsadm -o deletesite –force command to remove the site from the old content database.

In this scenario, the command removes the entry from the sitemap table that maps the site to the new content database instead of the old content database.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You click to select the Allow multiple values check box of a new site column in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0.
    • You create a custom list, and then add the site column to it.
    • You enable versioning control of the custom list.
    • You create an item in the custom list.
    • You edit the item, and then save the item. This behavior creates a new version of the item.
    • You delete the custom list.
    • You create a new custom list that uses the same name as the delete custom list, and then add the same site column to the new custom list.
    • You enable versioning control of the new custom list.
    • You create an item in the new custom list.
    • You edit the item, and then try to save the item.

In this scenario, you receive the following exception:
COMException (0x80040e2f): Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040E2F
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You click the Variation link to configure the variation setting in a Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 publishing site.
    • You click the Variation Labels link to create two variation labels.
    • You click the Create Hierarchies link to create hierarchies.
    • You create a new publishing page in the source variation site.
    • You publish the new publishing page, and then you wait until the page propagation finishes.
    • You edit the page in the destination variation site, and then you try to save it.

In this scenario, you receive the following error message:
The settings for this list have been changed. Refresh your browser before editing this list.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You create an alert notification in a Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 list.
    • You create an item in the list.
    • You receive an alert notification email message in Outlook.
    • You click theConnect to this task list button to synchronize Outlook with the list in the alert notification email message.
    • You click the Open in Browser button to open any synchronized list items in Outlook.

In this scenario, the URL of the synchronized list items is incorrect. Additionally, the following error page displays:
HTTP 404 webpage cannot be found error
  • Assume that you have a Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 site that includes a list. You assign the Collect Feedback workflow to the list. When the workflow is canceled, a deadlock occurs on a SQL server that has Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 content databases.
  • The People Picker control does not work as expectedly if a cross-forest topology has a one-way trust relationship between forests.

Note The issues only occur after you apply the hotfix package that is described in Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article 2483218.
  • 2552974  (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2552974/ ) The MSSBatchHistory table is not cleaned up periodically after you perform a crawl in Search Server 2008
  • 2552973  (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2552973/ ) A content crawl is slow when you crawl the contents of a SharePoint site from a different Office SharePoint Sever 2007 farm
