Summary

Microsoft has released an update for Microsoft Solution for Hosted Messaging and Collaboration 4.0 (HMC 4.0). This update is dated June 2011.

This update rollup also resolves the following issues that are not documented in a KB article:
  • When you run an "Import Data from PlanManager to PWDB40" SQL agent job, certain error messages are logged on the Log File viewer.

Resolution

Update rollup information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, submit a request to Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the hotfix.

Prerequisites

To apply this update, you must have Hosted Messaging and Collaboration version 4.0 installed. Additionally, you must be a member of the Domain Admins group.

Note The HMC Deployment Tool must be installed on the first Microsoft Provisioning Server (MPS) Engine server.

Restart requirement


You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this update rollup. However, you have to restart some services during the installation.

Hotfix replacement information

This update replaces all the previously released updates.

Installation information


To install this update rollup, follow these steps:
  1. Disable and shut down the provisioning engine on all MPS engine servers (MPS0n). To do this, follow these steps:
    1. On the MPS Engine servers, start Component Services.
    2. Expand Component Services, expand Computers, and then expand My Computer.
    3. Click COM+ Applications.
    4. Right-click Provisioning Engine, and then click Disable.
    5. Right-click Provisioning Engine, and then click Shut Down.
  2. Log on to the first MPS server (MPS01) as a member of the Domain Admins group.
  3. On the MPS01 server, start the Deployment Tool to uninstall the following old components.
    1. Expand Core Platform.
    2. Expand Core MPF Install, right-click Managed Helpers, and then click Uninstall.
    3. Expand MPF Core Namespaces, right-click the following components, and then click Uninstall:
      • DNS Provider
      • Managed Active Directory
      • SMTP Mail Provider
    4. Expand Hosted Active Directory.
    5. Right-click Hosted Active Directory, and then click Uninstall.
    6. Expand Hosted Exchange, and then expand Exchange Provisioning.
    7. Right-click the following components, and then click Uninstall:
      • Exchange 2007 Hosted Email
      • Exchange 2007 Hosted Unified Messaging
      • Exchange 2007 Managed Email
      • Exchange 2007 Managed Unified Messaging
      • Exchange 2007 Mobility Provider
      • Exchange 2007 OAB Resource Manager
      • Exchange 2007 Provider
      • Exchange 2007 Resource Manager
      • Exchange 2007 Unified Messaging Provider
      • Hosted Mobility 2007
      • Managed Mobility 2007
    8. Expand Hosting Platform, and then expand Hosted Plans Database, right-click Managed Plans Namespace, and then click Uninstall.
    9. Expand MPS Web Services.
    10. Expand Exchange 2007 OAB RM Web Service, right-click each server, and then click Uninstall.
    11. Expand Exchange 2007 RM Web Service, right-click each server, and then click Uninstall.
    12. Expand Hosted Active Directory Web Service, right-click each server under Hosted Active Directory Web Service, and then click Uninstall.
    13. Expand Hosted Email 2007 Web Service, right-click each server under Hosted Email 2007 Web Service, and then click Uninstall.
    14. Expand Hosted Mobility 2007 Web Service, right-click each server under Hosted Mobility 2007 Web Service, and then click Uninstall.
    15. Expand Hosted SharePoint Web Service, right-click each server under Hosted SharePoint Web Service, and then click Uninstall.
    16. Expand Hosted Unified Messaging 2007 Web Service, right-click each server, and then click Uninstall.
    17. Expand Managed Active Directory Web Service, right-click each server, and then click Uninstall.
    18. Expand Managed Email 2007 Web Service, right-click each server, and then click Uninstall.
    19. Expand Managed Mobility 2007 Web Service, right-click each server, and then click Uninstall.
    20. Expand Managed Plans Web Service, right-click each server, and then click Uninstall.
    21. Expand Managed SharePoint Web Service, right-click each server, and then click Uninstall.
    22. Expand SharePoint Services Hosting, and then expand Exchange Provisioning.
    23. Right-click the following components, and then click Uninstall:
      • Hosted SharePoint
      • Managed SharePoint
      • SharePoint Provider


    Click Start Deployment

  4. Extract the update rollup package on to the MPS server in a temporary location. For example, extract it to the following location:
    C:\temp\QFERollupPackage
  5. Rename or make copies of the existing files in the C:\MSIShare\ folder that have the following file names, and then copy the following MSI files from the C:\temp\QFERollupPackage\ folder to the C:\MSIShare\ folder:

  6. Use the Deployment Tool to reinstall the following components on the MPS Engine server:

    • Hosted Unified Messaging 2007 Namespace
    • Managed Email 2007 Namespace
    • Managed Unified Messaging 2007 Namespace
    • Exchange 2007 Mobility Provider
    • Exchange 2007 OAB Resource Manager Namespace
    • Exchange 2007 Provider
    • Exchange 2007 Resource Manager Namespace

    • Hosted Mobility 2007 Namespace
    • Managed Mobility 2007 Namespace
    • Managed Plans Namespace

  7. Click Start Deployment.
  8. In the Deployment Tool, expand Hosted Exchange, expand Exchange Provisioning Configuration, right-click the following nodes, and then run the Initialize command:
    • Hosted Email 2007
    • Managed Email 2007
    • Exchange 2007 Resource Manager
    • Exchange 2007 OAB Resource Manager
    • Exchange 2007 Managed Mobility
  9. In the Deployment Tool, expand Hosting Platform, expand Initialize Default Services, right-click the following nodes, and then run the Initialize command:
    • Managed Plans Database
    • Active Directory for Hosting
    • Namespace Security
  10. In the Deployment Tool, expand Sharepoint Service Hosting, right-click the following nodes, and then run the Initialize command:
    • Hosted SharePoint 2007
    • Managed SharePoint 2007
    • SharePoint Initialize Namespace Security
    1. Restart the Provisioning Engine. To do this, follow these steps:
    2. On the MPS Engine servers, start Component Services.
    3. Expand Component Services, expand Computers, and then expand My Computer.
    4. Click COM+ Applications.
    5. Right-click Provisioning Engine, and then click Shut Down.
    6. Right-click Provisioning Engine, and then click Start.
  11. Click Start Deployment.
  12. Run the EmailPermissionMigration.msi file on any server on the Platform, while logged on as a Domain Administrator. Accept all the default settings. Locate the Program Files\Microsoft Hosting\Provisioning\EmailPermissionMigration.exe file, and run it.
  13. Run the UpdateMobilePolicy.msi file on any server on the Platform, while logged on as a Domain Administrator. Accept all the default settings. Locate the Program Files\Microsoft Hosting\Provisioning\UpdateMobilePolicy\UpdateMobilePolicies.exe file, and run it as below:
    UpdateMobilePolicies /log <filename>
    Note<filename> is the name of a file to capture any events logged by the utility.
  14. Log on to DNS01 by using a domain administrator account.
  15. Copy the DNSClient.msi file from the update package and run it two times. This action removes the previously installed version of the DNS Client and installs a new version. To install the DNSClient.msi component, follow the instructions in the "Deploy the MPS DNS Client" section of the HMC 4.0 deployment guide.   16. Configure the DNS Web Client. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. In Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager, right-click DNSProvider, select Properties, and then select Directory Security.
    2. Under Authentication and Access Control, click Edit.
    3. Set the default domain value for the basic authentication setting to '\' (backslash). Click OK.
    4. Select Require security channel (SSL).
    5. Save the configuration changes, and close IIS Manager.
    6. Restart IIS.
  17. Execute the file KB939216.msi on each MPS engine server (MPS0x).
  18. Execute the file PlanManagerDBConcurrencyRollup1.msi on MPS01.
  19. Update the HMOABUpdate program by running Hmoabupdate.msi to uninstall the program, and then follow the steps from DWHE.106 to DWHE.112 in Install the OAB Update Batch Application (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc526570.aspx) .
  20. On all front-end SharePoint servers (COLLAB0n), uninstall the old version of the WindowsSharePointServicesWebService.msi file. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Copy the new version of the WindowsSharePointServicesWebService.msi file from MPS01 to COLLAB0n.
    2. Run the new version of the WindowsSharePointServicesWebService.msi file.
    3. Restart IIS on all SharePoint servers.
    Note If you receive an error message from the SharePoint 2007 provider after you install the WindowsSharePointServicesWebService.msi component, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

  21. On the MPSSQL server that has the resource manager database, install the ResourceManageDatabase.msi component. When you run the ResourceManageDatabase.msi component, the following actions are performed.
    1. The following index is added to the [rmcore_Candidates] table:
      rmcore_candidates_ix_target_set_object_category_object_id_trans_id
    2. The following stored procedures that perform read-only operations on the ResourceManager database are added:
      • SeleteAndAssembleAllocateOrgMailStores
      • SeleteAndAssembleReallocateOrgMailStores
    3. The following user-defined functions that perform read-only operations on the resource manager database are added:
      • fn_min (scalar valued)
      • fn_ResourceCapacityOnAllocatedMailStores (table-valued)
      • fn_ResourceCapacityOnUnallocatedMailStores (table-valued)
  22. Install the Out of Office (OOF) agent.

    Follow the instructions in the “Install and Configure the OOF agent" section in the HMC 4.5 RTM deployment guide to install, and then configure the Out of Office (OOF) agent that includes the following utilities:
    • Categorizer Override Agent
    • SMTP Domain Cache Task

    The instructions apply equally to HMC 4.0 and 4.5.
    Note To support multi-tenant capable of the Out of Office functionality for tenants in different organizations within the same domain, you must install the OOF agent on all Exchange Hub Transport servers. The Microsoft Exchange Transport service must be restarted for the installation of Categorizer Override Agent.
  23. Copy the PWDB40SSIS.MSI file to MOMSQL01 (or OMSQL01) and execute it to remove the existing package. Follow the steps from DWR.14 to DWR.16 in Create the Performance Warehouse Database (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc526692.aspx) to install the new package.
  24. Follow the instructions in step DWHE.118 in "Configure Exchange 2007 Monitoring and Data Collection (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc539040.aspx) " section of the HMC 4.0 deployment guide to install the Exchdatasetup.msi component. For more information about how to configure Exchange Server 2007 SP1 monitoring and data collection, visit the following Microsoft TechNet website:

  25. If you have to create a shared offline address book (OAB) when you approach the 32,000 limit of OABs, run theSharedOABUtility.msi file on MPS01, and then accept the default settings.   26. Restart IIS on each Web services server.
