Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You use a Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) server to deploy updates to Windows Vista-based or Windows Server 2008-based client computers.
  • The client computers are in a domain environment that has a disjoint namespace.
  • You enable Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) peer caching on the client computers.
  • You install updates on one client computer (client A).
In this scenario, the other client computers cannot install updates from client A.

Note When this issue occurs, the other client computers install updates from the WSUS server.

Cause

This issue occurs because BITS peer caching cannot perform authentication in a domain environment that has a disjoint namespace.

The dates and the times for these files on your local computer are displayed in your local time together with your current daylight saving time (DST) bias. Additionally, the dates and the times may change when you perform certain operations on the files.Important Windows Vista hotfixes and Windows Server 2008 hotfixes are included in the same packages.
