SUMMARY

In Windows Server "8" Beta, when a Virtual Computer Object (VCO) is created with a name longer than 15 characters and the VCO is used for clustered file server shares, the clustered file server shares may not appear in management tools such as Server Manager and Failover Cluster Manager.

VCO names longer than 15 characters are not supported for clustered file server shares. This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

NetBIOS host names are restricted to 15 characters. File server cluster shares are intended to be compliant with the NetBIOS naming structure.
