Symptoms

Assume that you create a terminal server farm in a Windows Server 2008-based server environment. When you connect to the terminal server farm from a Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) client, you cannot log off the terminal server session.

Notes

  • You must restart the terminal server to release the terminal server session.
  • This issue typically occurs after you perform a set of actions or after you start a specific application. For example, this issue occurs after you use Windows Internet Explorer to connect to a customer edge router and then run web-based applications.

Cause

This issue is caused by a deadlock condition that occurs when you try to log off the terminal server session.

Resolution
