Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2012 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2012 fix release.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario. You install a Microsoft SQL Server 2012 failover cluster instance or a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 failover cluster instance that is installed together with SQL Server Agent Services. The installation is successful and the resources are online. Then, you check the Application log for the instance. In this scenario, the SQL Server Agent service logs the following verbose logs in the Application log:

Information DateTime SQLAgent$Name 53 Failover "[sqagtres] LooksAlive request."

Information DateTime SQLAgent$Name 53 Failover "[sqagtres] CheckServiceAlive: returning TRUE (success)"

Cause

The issue occurs because of a code defect in the Sqagtres.dll SQL Server Agent resource file. The information that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section should not be logged.

SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 2
