This article describes how to register an .ocx file manually.
You can use the Microsoft Register Server (Regsvr32.exe) to register an .ocx file manually. The syntax for using Regsvr32.exe is as follows: Regsvr32 [/u] [/s] <OCX File Name>
means Unregister the .ocx file.
means Silent Mode (display no messages).
The following example registers the Microsoft MSCOMCTL ActiveX Control without displaying any messages:
Regsvr32 /s c:\windows\system32\mscomctl.ocx
Note: This needs to be run with administrator permissions
1. Click Start
, type cmd
2. Right-click the cmd
icon, and then click Run as Administrator
3. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER: Regsvr32 /s c:\windows\system32\mscomctl.ocx
for other considerations.
