Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You enable the Upgrade client automatically when new client updates are available option on a Microsoft System Center 2012 Configuration Manager Service Pack 1 (SP1) site.
  • You assign a Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 client to the site.

In this scenario, automatic client upgrades are unsuccessful on the System Center Configuration Manager 2007 client. Additionally, entries that resemble the following are logged in the PolicyEvaluator.log file on the client computer:

PolicySource = "SMS:SiteCode";

Resolution

To resolve this problem, install the hotfix that is described in the "Hotfix information" section. After this hotfix is installed, an administrator must disable and then re-enable the auto client upgrade setting on the site server. This causes a new policy to be generated that your v4 clients will recognize.
