This article describes how to remove the MSN shared stock list account from your portfolio.

MSN Money Portfolio has an account that is used to share a common list of symbols between various areas: Portfolio, My Money, and the MSN Personal Finance section of the home page. Because this is a "shared" list, any changes to the list of symbols made in any one of these areas affect the symbols shown in all areas. Therefore, you do not have to maintain separate lists of symbols for each area.

This shared stock list account in MSN Money Portfolio may be named:
MSN Watch List
MSN Stock List
or some other name that you gave it.
The shared stock list is indicated with a butterfly icon after the account name.

To remove the MSN shared stock list account from tracking throughout MSN, follow these steps:
  1. Start Portfolio Manager.
  2. Select the account that is identified as your MSN shared stock list (the one with the butterfly icon next to its name).
  3. Double-click the account name to open the Account Settings dialog box.
  4. Click to clear the Make this account my MSN Stock List check box, and then click OK.
  5. In the Other Tasks section, click Change Portfolio Settings, and then make sure that both options are cleared (unchecked) in the MSN stock list settings section.
All the other features of the MSN Money Portfolio Manager will continue to work as expected.

Note The Essentials Portfolio on MSN Money does not support the MSN shared stock list. You must use the Deluxe Portfolio to use the MSN shared stock list.
