The SQL Mail extended stored procedures xp_readmail
may intermittently fail with error 0x8004010f (MAPI_E_NOT_FOUND), and calls to the xp_findnextmsg
SQL Mail extended stored procedure prematurely stop iterating over the messages in the specified mailbox.
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for SQL Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the

INF: How to Obtain the Latest SQL Server 2000 Service Pack
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in SQL Server 2000. This problem was first corrected in SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 1.
Because of the bug in the underlying routine used to look up a mail message by an internal "key" value, xp_readmail
might return this error incorrectly. Xp_findnextmsg
internally catches this error and interprets it as having reached the end of the messages in the inbox, so xp_findnextmsg
returns with a status of 1 before it has iterated over all of the messages.
Because the sp_processmail
system stored procedure relies on these underlying mail extended stored procedures, it might also fail to process all messages correctly.
