SYMPTOMS

If you configure an Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) profile in Outlook 2002 and click to clear the Remember Password box, the focus is on the User Name field instead of the Password field when you try to log on to the IMAP server. This may be a security concern if you start to type your password in the User Name field because it is viewed in plain text.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office XP. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Office XP. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 1.
