When you upgrade your computer to Windows XP, you may receive the following error message:
Uninstall Option Not Available

There is not enough Space to save your current operation system.

Your computer has enough disk space for Windows XP, but it does not have enough to save your current version of Windows for backup.

The backup image size is number_of_megabytes

It is recommended that you cancel Setup now, free additional disk space, and then restart setup.

This behavior occurs because the amount of disk space for the partition on which you want to install Windows XP is insufficient to accommodate the uninstallation backup image.

To resolve this behavior, press the ESC key to cancel the Setup procedure. You can also resolve the behavior by using the following methods:
  • You can free additional hard disk space if you delete files that you do not need. You can also move files from the installation partition to another partition on your hard disk.
  • If you have a different partition with available hard disk space, you receive the following message during Setup:
Do you want setup to save existing system files?
Click Yes to redirect the Windows XP upgrade to save the uninstallation files to the available hard drive partition.
You can also continue with the Setup procedure if you click Next. However, if you click Next you cannot uninstall Windows XP after the upgrade procedure if finished because the uninstallation files are not saved.
