If more than 252 characters are typed in the proxy exclusion list, the Do not use proxy server for local Intranet address
check box is incorrectly unchecked when you click OK

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Internet Explorer 5.01 for Windows 2000 Service Pack 3.
