SYMPTOMS

When you run the Backup utility from a command prompt or from a batch file by using the ntbackup command (Ntbackup.exe), the program may not prompt you to change the media when the backup media is full. Instead, the program quits.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, if you do not have to schedule a backup, run Backup manually from the Start menu. To do so:
  1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Backup.
  2. On the Backup or Restore Wizard page, click Next, and then do one of the following:
    • Click Back up files and settings, click Next, click the type of backup that you want, and then click Next.

      -or-
    • Click Let me choose what to back up, click Next, expand My Computer, click to select the items that you want to back up, and then click Next.
  3. In the Choose a place to save your backup dialog box, click Browse, and then select a location where you want to save your backup files.
  4. In the Type a name for this backup dialog box, type a name for your backup, and then click Finish.
Your backup job starts, and you are prompted to change the backup media when the media is full.
