SYMPTOMS

After you install the Intel Pentium M (Centrino) driver on a computer that is with equipped with the Intel Pentium M (Centrino) processor, the ProcessorStatus class and the ProcessorPerformance class do not appear in the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) namespace.

RESOLUTION

Service pack information

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Windows XP. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Hotfix information

To resolve this problem, apply this hotfix to prevent the WMI classes from being deleted when the driver is installed.

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2.

If your system is missing the ProcessorStatus class and the ProcessorPerformance class as a result of installing the Intel Pentium M driver before you installed this hotfix, you can run the following commands at a Windows command prompt to recover the lost classes:
Net stop winmgmt
Rmdir /q/s %systemroot%\system32\wbem\repository
for %1 in (%systemroot%\system32\wbem\*.mof %systemroot%\system32\wbem\*.mfl) do mofcomp %1
Net start winmgmt
