Symptoms

When a program calls the CreateToolhelp32Snapshot() function with the TH32CS_SNAPMODULE, the TH32CS_SNAPHEAPLIST, or the TH32CS_SNAPALL flag to take a snapshot of another process on a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer, the target process may start to leak memory although the snapshot handle that is returned by the CreateToolhelp32Snapshot() function is closed.

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
