SYMPTOMS

When you open a project in Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 that contains lots of .aspx, .asmx, and .xsd files, Visual Studio .NET may appear to stop responding.

CAUSE

When you open a project in Visual Studio .NET that contains .aspx, .asmx, and .xsd files, and when the Web Service designer is opened, a processor-intensive call is made to open multiple datasets. Each dataset tries to resolve the schema name that is associated with the dataset. If lots of.aspx, .asmx, and .xsd files are in the project, the load time is increased for each file, and it may appear like Visual Studio .NET stops responding.
