When ActiveX Controls are hosted in windows that are created by using the CAxWindow
class, and the windows are destroyed, the operation of creating and destroying the hosting window may cause a handle leak. This problem occurs if none of the ActiveX Control properties are set.
If the process of creating and destroying these windows is performed frequently, this process leads to handle starvation and unexpected application behavior.
When an ActiveX Control is hosted on a CAxWindow
class, Active Template Library (ATL) allocates a global handle that is not freed when the window is destroyed. This leads to a leak in handle resources.
