If the following conditions are true, the Microsoft Windows XP-based computer may stop responding:
- You are using a Windows XP-based portable computer.
- The power cord is plugged in or is unplugged when the computer is in the process of entering standby.
A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Your hardware manufacturer provides support because a Windows x64 edition was included with your hardware. Your hardware manufacturer might have customized the Windows x64 edition installation with unique components. Unique components might include specific device drivers or might include optional settings to maximize the performance of the hardware.
