SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You have more than 16 16-bit programs running on a Microsoft Windows XP-based or Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer. After you install the MS04-032 security update on the computer, the running instances of the 16-bit programs are not listed under the Ntvdm.exe process in Task Manager. If you use the VDMEnumTaskWOWEx function to enumerate more than 16 16-bit programs that run under a shared Ntvdm.exe process, the function returns 0 after the 17th program.
