Microsoft has released security bulletin MS06-054. The security bulletin contains all the relevant information about the security update for Microsoft Publisher 2002. Known issues

  • After you install this update, you cannot open Microsoft Publisher 2.0 publications in Publisher 2002. If you try to open a Publisher 2.0 file, you receive the following error message:
    Publisher cannot open this file. This file was saved from a previous version of Publisher. Publisher no longer supports files that were saved in this version.
  • If you do not have Publisher 2002 installed, you may still receive an offer to install this update from Microsoft Update or from Office Update. You receive this offer if one of the programs that is listed in the "Applies to" section is installed on your computer. For more information about why you may receive an offer to install this update, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Removal information

To remove this update, use the Add or Remove Programs feature in Control Panel.
