SYMPTOMS

On a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP or Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Outlook 2000 may unexpectedly quit when you use the Input Method Editor (IME) to enter Japanese text. For example, you may experience this problem when you enter Japanese text in an e-mail message or in an appointment.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of a problem in the Rich Edit control DLL (Riched20.dll) in the %windir%\System32 folder. Outlook 2000 uses this DLL to format text in the IME.
