SYMPTOMS

When you repeatedly switch between multiple video files that have different formats, the playback application may unexpectedly quit.

CAUSE

The playback application uses the Video Mixer Renderer (VMR). The VMR sets up a callback on a timer. When the timer event is raised, the callback may be referencing a destroyed instance of the VMR. Therefore, when the callback is made, an access violation occurs.
