SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You open a Microsoft Visual C++ project in Microsoft Visual Studio 2005. The Visual C++ project contains symbolic debugging information. You set breakpoints in the application code. In this scenario, you may experience the following problems when you start the debugger:
  • You may experience slow performance. For example, it may take several seconds for the debugger to arrive at the breakpoints that you set.

Note This problem is more likely to occur when the Visual C++ project contains large .pdb files.
  • You may experience increased memory usage in the Devenv.exe process.
Note These problems occur only on x86 processors. These problems do not occur on x64 processors or on IA-64 processors.
