SYMPTOMS

When you run a Multidimensional Expressions (MDX) query against a measure in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services, you receive the following error message:
An internal error has occurred

This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
  • The measure is a semiadditive measure.
  • The IsAggregable attribute of the time dimension is set to False.
When this problem occurs, SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services generates a minidump file in the %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.x\OLAP\Log directory. If you examine the minidump file, you find an access violation occurs in the MDXSemiAdditiveFormula::CalculateLastChild function.
