SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • In an Active Directory directory service domain, you create some security groups.
  • You give these security groups names that begin with an opening parenthesis.

Note The following is an opening parenthesis:
    (
  • On a Windows XP-based client computer, you query a group name that begins with an opening parenthesis.
In this scenario, the object picker of the client computer ignores all the characters after the opening parenthesis. Therefore, all groups that have names that begin with an opening parenthesis appear in the list.

This problem may make it difficult to select the group that you want if lots of groups in the domain have names that begin with an opening parenthesis.
