SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • The Active Directory Certificate Service role is enabled on a Windows Server 2008-based computer.
  • Some CA related plug-ins are installed on this computer.
In this scenario, the memory usage of the Certificate service may keep increasing. The computer may stop responding, the computer may crash, or the computer may generate some exception error messages when memory resources are exhausted.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Active Directory Certificate Service does not release allocated memory for certificates and certificate chains when the related certificate requests are rejected.
