Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 fix release.

SYMPTOMS

When you synchronize a database in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services, the following error message is logged in the SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services log file:
Message: Errors in the metadata manager. An error occurred when loading the Analysis cube, from the file, '\\?\Analysis Services Data Directory\Cube file name'. (Source: \\?\Analysis Services Installation Directory\OLAP\Log\msmdsrv.log, Type: 3, Category: 289, Event ID: 0xC1210013)
Additionally, a minidump file is generated in the log folder. You also find an error message that resembles the following in the Application log:
Errors in the metadata manager. The dimension with ID of Dimension ID, Name of Dimension Name referenced by the Cube Name cube, does not exist. Errors in the metadata manager. An error occurred when loading the Analysis cube, from the file, '\\?\Analysis Services Data Directory\Cube File Name'

RESOLUTION

Cumulative update information for the release version of SQL Server 2008
