SYMPTOMS

On a computer that is running Windows XP, you have a network share. You access the network share by using a client-side redirector that uses the server message block (SMB) protocol.

However, all network share access attempts fail. Because of this issue, you cannot perform any network share operations.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of a race condition in the client-side redirector. The race condition causes a deadlock in which all SMB-related operations fail.

RESOLUTION
