RAPID PUBLISHING

RAPID PUBLISHING ARTICLES PROVIDE INFORMATION DIRECTLY FROM WITHIN THE MICROSOFT SUPPORT ORGANIZATION. THE INFORMATION CONTAINED HEREIN IS CREATED IN RESPONSE TO EMERGING OR UNIQUE TOPICS, OR IS INTENDED SUPPLEMENT OTHER KNOWLEDGE BASE INFORMATION.

Symptom

When drawing with a tablet or pressure-sensitive tablet in Microsoft Expression Design or Design 2, you may find that you are not able to adjust the stroke width when you apply more or less pressure on the stylus.

Cause

This problem happens when you try to draw with pressure sensitivity and the default stroke is selected.

Resolution

In order to use pressure sensitivity you will need to change the stroke type by clicking the stroke drop-down menu, located to the left of the "width" box, and select a different stroke type.

More Information

Pressure sensitivity will not work with the default selected stroke in Expression Design. Strokes are divided into multiple categories. Hovering the mouse over each stroke will produce a tool tip with the official name given to that stroke. The default stroke is officially called “Basic” and is located in the “<General>” category. This is the one stroke with which pressure sensitivity will not work. Pressure sensitivity will work with any other stroke, also called custom or skeletal strokes, in the stroke list.
