SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2.
  • You set Microsoft Office Input Method Editor (IME) as the default input method.
  • You run the Msinfo32.exe tool to open System Information window, or run with /nfo or /report switch to save an exported file.
In this scenario, you may receive an error message in the details pane of the System Information window. The error message is as follows:
Can't Collect Information - Access denied to Windows Management Instrumentation server on this computer. Have an administrator change your permissioms.

If you run Msinfo32.exe with /nfo or /report switch to save an exported file, the file is created and no error message shows. But the saved file contains only an error message. With /nfo switch, the error message is same as above. With /report switch, the error message is as follows:
Can't Collect Information
