SYMPTOMS

You try to add an e-mail address that contains special characters to the list of blocked senders in Microsoft Forefront Threat Management Gateway (TMG) 2010. However, this operation fails and generates the following error message:
The Sender address is empty or not valid. Please enter a valid e-mail address.
Note For more information about special characters, refer to the "4.1.2. Command Syntax" section of Request for Comment (RFC) 821.

RESOLUTION

Service pack information

This problem is fixed in Forefront TMG 2010 Service Pack 1.

Hotfix rollup information


To resolve this problem, install the hotfix rollup package that is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Forefront TMG 2010 Service Pack 1.
