SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You migrate a mailbox from a Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 server to a Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 server.
  • A user connects to this mailbox through the POP3 protocol.
In this scenario, the POP3 service on the Exchange 2010 Client Access server crashes. Additionally, the following error is logged in the Application log:

Level: Error
Description:
Watson report about to be sent for process id: <ID>, with parameters: E12, c-RTL-AMD64, <version number>, M.Exchange.Pop3, M.E.Data.Storage, M.E.D.S.IdConverter.GetLegacyPopUid, System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException, <stamp>, <version number>.

RESOLUTION

To fix this problem, apply the following update rollup:
