Question:

When I go to Transactions-Financial-General, I keep getting the error message: The Posting Journal Setting Files are Empty. I can get into other modules, but not this one. What is the problem?

Answer:

The Posting Setting files have been damaged. Your first option is to restore a backup of the SY02200.*, and SY02300.* files (the Posting Setting files), both located in the Company folder. If you do not have a backup or if you are still experiencing this error after restoring from the backup files (i.e. the backup files are also damaged), you will need to follow the directions below to reset the Posting Settings:

1) Print your current Posting Settings (Reports-Company-Setup, then select Posting Settings).

2) Next, Clear Data on the Posting Setting files. To Clear Data, go to File - Maintenance - Clear Data, choose Company as the series and Insert the Posting Journal Destinations and Posting Settings files. Click OK. This will reset all your posting information back to the default.

3) You will need to set up all your posting information again. To do this go to the Posting Setup window (Setup - Posting - Posting) and go through each individual series, resetting your posting information according to the Posting Settings report you printed in Step 1 above.
